Situated midway between Newcastle and Carlisle, the cottage provides an excellent base to explore the Roman sites and Museums in the Northumberland National Park, including Hadrians Wall, which is 6 miles from the historic market town of Hexham. The Metro Centre and wonderful Outdoor Museum at Beamish are just a leisurely drive away, as is the Cathedral city of Durham. The Scottish Borders and Northumberland coast are within easy reach.
From the doorstep there are miles of forest tracks and country lanes for walkers and mountain bikers. Enjoy a round of golf on one of several local courses, picnic on the banks the Derwent Reservoir or treat yourself to afternoon tea in the picturesque village of Blanchland.
A small shop, post office and two pubs serving food (one with an excellent adventure playground) are within 1½ miles of the cottage, whilst the prestigious Slaley Hall Hotel and golf course is less than 2 miles away.
