Escarpment views over the rolling hills and picturesque villages – Cotswolds
buildings gems of vernacular architecture developed out of the medieval
wool trade.
The Cotswold countryside contains some of England's finest churches;
country houses, ruined abbeys and Neolithic remains, gothic follies,
magnificent gardens, parks and a fascinating industrial heritage. Here
there are many great pubs serving local beers and excellent food.
Blockley hidden in the depths of the Gloucestershire’s beautiful countryside,
not far from Moreton-in-Marsh, has many magnificent buildings developed as
a result of its affluent wool trade. The Knee Brook, which powered the wool
and silk mills runs through Blockley village where there is a lovely 12th
century church. Blockley makes a wonderful base for self-catering from where
you can enjoy the delights of the Cotswolds and the fine cities of Cheltenham,
Gloucester and Bath.
